History of Broco Rankin
Protecting our worlds together — for more than 50 Years
Broco, Inc.
Broco, Inc. was founded in 1968 by Jerome S. Brower, a former Army Major and war veteran. He was a chemical engineer and renowned explosives expert and invented or designed versions of many of the products Broco is still known for today, including the underwater exothermic cutting torch and his patented underwater cutting rods. The business grew to include underwater welding products and topside industrial cutting and welding equipment.
In the 1980’s Broco expanded into the military and law enforcement fields with custom torch kits and rescue, repair and recovery equipment for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. Broco Tactical tools and equipment are now used by military and law enforcement units around the world.
Rankin Industries
Rankin Industries was founded in 1938 and began by making welding consumables. In its more than 80-year history, Rankin developed new formulas utilizing new elements and alloys. As the company grew, so did the number of industries that found value and uses for Rankin’s hardfacing and build-up products.
