Broco, Inc. and BluHaptics

ONTARIO, California (April 26, 2016) – Broco, Inc.® and BluHaptics, Inc. of Seattle, Washington, are pleased to announce a technology partnership to deliver advanced ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) solutions that will revolutionize the safety and performance of cutting and welding for underwater service companies and subsea industries worldwide.  The new partnership combines proven cutting and welding technologies with advanced force-feedback control software with collision avoidance, machine learning, active 3D imagery, and precision guidance.

Broco, Inc., founded in 1968, has been a leader in exothermic cutting and underwater welding products for over 45 years.  Broco continues to focus on diver and operational safety in its current technology, having recently introduced the BR-22PLUS cutting torch with over 21 design improvements emphasizing safety.

“We are very excited to be collaborating with BluHaptics on this project.  The underwater services and maintenance sector has asked for new technologies that are safer, more efficient and cost effective for both man and machine.  We believe this new technology will help achieve these goals,” said Richard Ferry, president of Broco Rankin.

BluHaptics, Inc. is a three-year-old technology company born in the University of Washington’s Applied Physics Lab and new business incubator, UW CoMotion.  In 2015, BluHaptics was awarded the “Most Promising Company Award” at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston.  Already proven in work with the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense, BluHaptics’ skilled design team is delivering value in advanced software and systems integration solutions with an emphasis on underwater operations, particularly in the subsea ROV industry.

Several cutting processes will be offered in the future.  The team is currently pursuing relationships to determine specific uses, needs and requirements.

In addition to underwater cutting and welding systems, Broco, Inc.® designs and manufactures specialty tactical breaching equipment and industrial cutting and welding systems.  Its sister company, Rankin Industries®, designs and manufactures a full range of build-up and hardfacing products, including specialty alloys and automated welding systems. Corporate headquarters are located in Ontario, California, and products are available through a global distributor network.
