Rankin Automation Debuts Manual Vibratory Carbide Feeder and Single Axis Automated Hardfacing Machine

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (OCTOBER 6, 2008) – Rankin® Automation introduces two new automated hardfacing machines, the Manual Vibratory Carbide Feeder and the Single Axis Automated Hardfacing Machine, that offer extraordinary efficiency in making uniform tungsten carbide deposits for extreme wear resistance and hardfacing applications. Rankin ®Automation’s new line offers portable to heavy duty machines designed to dramatically improve part service life and effective utilization of equipment and tools subjected to severe abrasion in the construction, agricultural, mining, dredging, and energy and oil industries.

Manual Vibratory Carbide Feeder is simple to operate and provides a uniquehandheld, automated feeder for all grades of tungsten carbide. It offers:

  • tungsten carbide concentration up to 75 percent
    • unprecedented part life
    • less carbide dilution
    • high, fast deposit rates
    • thicker deposits for longer life
    • lightweight and portable
    • integration with virtually all MIG wire welding machinesComponents include:
    • Large volume carbide hopper
    • vibratory feeder assembly
    • aluminum metering funnel
    • 4” metering tube with collar
    • 6” short guide tube with clamp for gun mounting
    • 115 VAC line cable with three prong plug
    • remote control pendant
    • 5’ 0f .625” I.D. drop hose

The systems now offered by Rankin® Automation range from the light and portable Manual Vibratory Carbide Feeder to heavy duty automated systems including the new Single Axis Automated Hardfacing Machine.

The Single Axis Automated Hardfacing Machine is an automated system for applying hardfacing overlays and for the bulk feeding of all grades of tungsten carbide. The wire feeder is designed to fit standard wire diameters of .035”, .045”, and 1/16”, and rollersare available to accommodate a range of wire sizes up to 1/8”. The Single Axis Automated Hardfacing Machine offers:

• virtually impenetrable deposits of up to 80 percent concentration of the desired mesh of tungsten carbide
• unprecedented protection against abrasion
• Repeatability and consistency of deposit
• multiple weld layer application
• high deposition rates
• easy operation

Components include:
• four-roll wire feeder
• 600 amp air-cooled MIG torch, 800 amp water-cooled torch available
• sine wave oscillator
• manual 6” vertical and horizontal adjusters
• variable speed travel carriage operating from 2 to 45 IPM
• lightweight 10’ beam assembly providing 8’ net travel, 4’ and 6’ extensions available
• vibratory feed system
• proximity sensor control for stitch welds and automatic stop feature
• up to 60(lbs) spool holder
• adjustable stand
• easily-operated control panel with 4 push button switches and 3 single turn speed control pots
